A Penny Oxidized is a Penny Learned
In 8B Chemistry, students learned about the oxidizing process by putting baking soda into a cup of water, dipping paper towel into it, putting the paper towel on tinfoil, and taking a battery and pressing the positive side on the penny, turning it blue. If pressed even longer, it turns green. Bottom line - we're not sure the bank will accept these pennies anymore.
