Team 6B at Camp Vacamus
The fun and excitement that started the week on Sunday continued yesterday with the 6B trip to Camp Vacamus. The goal of the trip was to continue building relationships while strengthening students' teambuilding and communication skills. Today's activities surely achieved the goal.
Through various exercises and tasks that were designed to be engaging and competitive, students were challenged to strategize with one another to accomplish each activity. This pressed them to communicate effectively with one another, problem solve, and adjust approaches and perspectives among themselves. Over the course of the day, the students learned to listen to one another more, recognize the importance of teamwork, internalize the value of learning from mistakes, and appreciate the practical advantages of thinking things through rather than responding impulsively.
We continue to reinforce these life skills at every turn. As the students continue their Middle School experience, we were encouraged by their conduct, energy and determination today. The appreciation they shared with the Vacamus staff, the thank you from each student as they stepped off the bus, and the spirit and attention they gave to the pre-Mincha talk about gratitude and positivity demonstrated great character.
