Community Superheroes

By Morah Honny:

Dear Rabbi Bernstein and Dr Goldman,

I just wanted to share with you a wonderful example of chesed and a special sense of community with you. Our children 2 weeks ago unfortunately went through a horrible experience. The contents of their home was destroyed by fire. Thank G-D no one was home and all are safe. The outpouring of chesed from our communities was immeasurable. This past Sunday, we experienced another act of outstanding chesed and warmth. Two boys from our yeshiva, Raphael Wasserlauf and Amir Glaser came to our home dressed as superheros. They volunteered for this act of love and kindness to make the birthday of my 5 year old grandson, Naftali Horowitz, one he would not forget.

It is hard for a 5 year old to comprehend what happens when everyone around him is coping with a loss. To make his day special, Raphael and Amir dressed up and even came with gifts just the make his day with no agenda or expectation of a reward. We all benefited from their kindness. We should be so proud of them showing what a wonderful community we are at RYNJ.

What a wonderful community they are as part of Klal Yisrael.
