Proud to Be a Jag!
By Mattis Field:
This past Thursday night, the RYNJ Jaguars 6th grade basketball team hosted the Yavneh Redhawks, and RYNJ won the game. There was some great defense in the first quarter when late in the quarter, it was only 4-2. At the start of the second quarter, both teams started to show both their offense at defense. There were also a lot of steals and rebounds in the second quarter. At halftime, RYNJ was winning 13-12. In the second half, both teams scored some more points, but whenever a team would steal the ball and go all the way down the court, it was RYNJ almost every time. Specifically in the fourth quarter, Yavneh forced some fouls and allowed some big plays and then just let RYNJ run away with the game.
By halftime, all fans had received raffle tickets for the halftime show. Donny Book of the Student Council called many students forward to take half-court or 3-point shots to win official Jaguar rally towels. Congrats to Elisha Cohen for winning! We also featured Nachum Pietruszka and myself as our Jaguar mascot!
The Jags advanced to 2-0! See you next game (Tuesday at home vs Moriah).
